The warm and fuzzies

There are some clips from movies that when I watch them I immediately feel good inside.

I hope these clips do the same for you.

Adam Brody

I just watched In The Land of Women. Well kind of, it was on the TV, and I was in the room most of the time. I enjoyed it much more this time around. And I started to wonder where is Adam Brody these days? I have always liked him, ever since his days as Dave Rygalski on Gilmore Girls.

Well I IMDB'd this fella, and he is rumored to be in the upcoming Justice League movie as The Flash/Barry Allen. That should be interesting.

Also, Ginnifer Goodwin is at the end of this movie! I had forgotten that. I enjoy her as well. Isn't interesting how everyone is talking about her now, and I haven't heard about Mr. Brody in ages? My how the tables have turned.

Greed

Have you guys seen this fictitious ad campaign created by Francesco Vezzoli's on display at the Gagosian Gallery in Rome? I assume very few of you are in Rome right now, but you can see it online. It stars Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman. I tried to be sneaky and snag the exclusive video from Dazed Digital, but I was foiled. Click over there to check out the trailer for the campaign.

XO XO

I have always debated with people when you say XOXO which is hugs and which is kisses. I have come to believe that X is hugs because it relates to the crossing of arms with hugging, and O is lips because it relates to the shape of lips. Well my brother just sent me the Wikipedia article debating this very fact. It says:

"Hugs and kisses, also love and kisses, is a term for a sequence of the letters X and O, e.g. XOXO, typically to express affection or good friendship at the end of a written letter, email or SMS text message.
There is much debate on whether X's represent hugs or kisses. Some argue that X's represent kisses, but due to the "hugs and kisses" paradigm, some contend that 'X' is in fact lined up with the 'hug' and 'O' with the kiss. Also, arms crossing while hugging indicate an X while puckered lips form an O. Nevertheless, this proposition is contradicted by the Oxford English Dictionary, which states that 'X' is "used to represent a kiss, esp. in the subscription to a letter."[1]. The Shawks Inc. encyclopedia, an authority in urban lingo, has it that the 'O' represents a hug, and the 'X' a kiss, with the explanation that if you look at each letter like it was representing two people from a bird's eye view, the "O" represents the arms of those persons hugging each other while the "X" is evocative of two people kissing."

What do you guys think?

Where's Waldo?

At Top Shop of course! I can't believe it has taken me this long to post about this amazing Waldo sighting. My friend sent it to me as soon as it was posted on Racked (which has oddly taken down that link) and I freaked out.

Keep your eyes peeled for more information about our next game of our Life-Sized Version of Where's Waldo.

Olsens Anonymous

I was over on Somersault marveling at the many many posts Annie has done in the last couple days, when I found myself enjoying an image of a perfect looking party. I followed the link and it led me to Olsens Anonymous. How had I not heard of this blog before?

I have been an Olsen fan for as long as I can remember, I am not even sure how much I like them anymore, but I still love them.

Presidential Doodles

Barack Obama

Rutherford B Hayes

Richard Nixon

JFK

Benjamin Harrison

Warren G Harding

I was at a party Saturday night talking about the usual things, Aaron Carter and presidential facts. A kid at the party informed me about presidential doodles. He told me if you google presidential doodles you can find a whole slew of doodles presidents have done. AMAZING is what I have to say to that. Through my googling I found a whole book of presidential doodles, called oddly enough Presidential Doodles.

Milk + I Love You Man

This was a peculiar weekend for me, I saw two movies, in the theaters. I love movies, but I rarely end up going to see them in the theaters. It is a combination of factors really. Movie tickets are $12 which just seems ludicrous to me, I am a little lazy, and movie theater crowds often annoy me. This weekend though I sucked it up and went to see two fantastic movies.

First I saw Milk when I had some free time downtown on Saturday. It was amazing, it was inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time.

Then I saw I Love You, Man last night. I had been anticipating this movie for quite some time. Paul Rudd and Jason Segel are two of my favorite guys, and it was amazing to see Paul Rudd in such a large lead role. As you guys know, I love Paul Rudd. The movie did not let me down when little bit, my brother wrote me this message after he saw it:

I want to be like Paul Rudd when I grow up, but taller.

Go see I Love You, Man.

Tween Idol No More

If you have been reading my blog for a while you know my feelings about Zac Efron. Well it looks like he might be feeling the same way. Check out Efron's new spread in the next issue of Interview. Looks like Efron is breaking from his High School Musical roots and is moving towards something with a little more mature content.

Barbie Dreamhouse

I die, that's right Rachel Zoe I said it, are you going to sue me now? Jonathan Adler has designed a life-size Barbie Dreamhouse in Malibu. BRILLIANT. (see more images on mawphotos flickr)

I love all the Barbie stuff going on right now. Did you guys all see the Bloomingdales windows and the sketches and images from the Barbie Runway show at Fashion Week?

OHHHHHHHHH

My mom sent me the following e-mail:

"The Seinfeld cast is making another must-see appearance. EW has learned exclusively that the four stars of NBC's long-running comedy -- Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards -- will be featured in a multiple-episode story arc on HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm this fall. The cameos will mark the first time that all four actors have appeared together in a scripted TV show since Seinfeld went off the air nearly 11 years ago. No date has been set for this event, or for Curb's seventh season, which will run for 10 weeks. Curb, of course, was created by and stars Larry David, the cocreator of Seinfeld."

Words can't describe....

Pop Culture is my Calling

As I mentioned a couple days  ago I am really into pop culture. To illustrate to you how true this is, let me tell you about the papers I have written since coming to Parsons. Last semester I wrote a paper about Batman, and how Gotham city is essentially NYC. If you want to argue that Gotham is Chicago, I will debate you to the death. In my last few papers for my global issues classes I have managed to reference both Seinfeld and Michael Jordan.

My favorite paper though was my paper on the Evolution of the Nerd. Essentially my paper illustrated how the Nerd has evolved from Socially unacceptable to hearthrob over the past 50 30-50 years, and that also the Nerd is the predecessor to the hipster. My paper covered Richie Cunningham, Louis Skolnick, and Seth Cohen. Then concluded with a bit about hipsters and using the hipster olympics as my main source. If you have not seen the hipster olympics, watch it now, do it. I even embedded it in this post for your convenience.

As if

I love Clueless. I am always amazed when people from my generation have never seen it. It like totally defines the 90's.

I had the VHS version of Clueless and at the end was this music video by Supergrass. You may recognize the song from the movie. It is grand, and I have come to realize so is Supergrass.

Mad Men and Bewitched

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between Mad Men and Bewitched? Let me lay them out for you.

Donald Draper & Darrin Stephens: Both work in a big name add agency. Both have dark hair, and are handsome. Both are sensitive and loving, but have some anger issues.

Roger Sterling & Larry Tate: Both are partners in an advertising agency. Both have silver hair. Both like to drink and like women. I am guessing if Bewitched wasn't so PG of a show Larry Tate would have had an affair or two.

Betty Draper & Samantha Stephens: Beautiful, young, blonde housewives.

Sally Draper & Tabitha Stephens: Oldest child, girl, blonde hair.

Bobby Draper & Adam Stephens: Youngest child, boy, brown hair.

I was just watching Bewitched the other night, and made the connection between Larry & Darrin and  Donald & Roger and then I realized the rest, and wanted to share with you all!

Happy Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

The fact that Halloween is on Friday this year is amazing. My two friends and I are going to be Powerpuff Girls tonight, we wikipediad them, and it pretty much describes are friendship. Of course including the super powers. I am going to be the green one.

Also the Village Halloween Parade is apparently recreating the parade scene from Ferris Bueller. CANNOT WAIT!

Legends of the Hidden Temple

For my birthday this year, which was in July so this kind of a late post, my friend Jaime gave me the best present she has ever given me. (By the way when year for Christmas she gave me a fish, which really more a responsibility than a present. Then she asked me to name the fish after her.) It was the team barracuda shirt from Legends of the Hidden Temple. If you don't know about LHT (that's right thats the badass acronym) then I am very sorry. If you do know, you know how badly the barracudas kick butt. Jaime created these very life like images of us with Kirk playing legends of the hidden temple. BALLIN!
