I miss you

Have you missed me? I sure have missed you.

Life does not allow me time to blog. I am sorry. Please visit me over on my new tumblr though. I will reblog and post things over there pretty regularly until I can get time in my life to keep my blogger in shape.

Hopefully soon I will be able to make it really pretty, but for now just enjoy the images I have been reblogging.

I'm on an airplane

Right now I am on an airplane. That's right, my airplane has internet! I am really excited about it.

I am on an airplane because I am heading home to the West Coast for Thanksgiving. I am really excited about seeing my family, my dog, and all my friends.

The Richanbach household has rented three movies that seem to be typical of a holiday weekend for us. Start Trek (the new one), Miracle on 34th St (it was a tough choice between Natalie Wood and Dylan McDermott, but Dylan McDermott won), and Rear Window.

See you in a few hours West Coast!

Hennigans Scotch

This weekend my friends Jonas Sees in Color are going to be in town from North Carolina. We are going to go and enjoy the city tonight, and maybe track down some Hennigans Scotch...

Also, have you heard of Whiskey Dinner at L'Ecole? It is a six course meal paired with single malt Whiskey. Mmmmmm, delicious.

Procrastination

I definitely procrastinated with this video yesterday.

Thanks Swiss-Miss.

It's Always Sunny

Let me tell you what I am excited about tonight. Having It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on DVR. Kitten mittens rocked my world two weeks ago, and Charlie's mind blew my mind last week. I am excited to see what is in store.

The reason I must DVR it though is because my lovely roommate and I are going to see Coco Avant Chanel at the Paris Theater. We have been planning on doing this for weeks, and feel it is a very good choice for our inaugural film at the theater.

Au Revoir!

Harry Connick Jr.

I am normally opposed to listening to Christmas music before Thanksgiving. I really like Thanksgiving, so I like to give it its time, then I still have a whole month to get excited about Christmas. But when the Christmas songs are being sung live to your by Harrick Connick Jr. I make an exception.

Tuesday was the unveiling of the Bloomingdale's Holiday windows (which are all sparkly!), and to celebrate the unveiling Harry Connick Jr. did a little performance on Third Avenue. I work across the street from Bloomindale's so of course my co-worker and I took a little fieldtrip across the street to see the man himself.

The photos are from his performance, sorry they are all blurry and you can't see his pretty face. I was close enough where I could, but my iPhone was apparently not aware of that. I do like the colors in the photos though.

Outside The Strand

I don't walk by The Strand as often as I used to. That is probably a good thing, considering I always find myself looking at the books they have outside and buying one or two, and my apartment does not have enough space many more books. Above our a couple of covers that caught my eye when I did walk by The Strand yesterday.

I also bought Little Women for 48¢. BOOYA!

Hamlet

Yesterday my brother and I went and saw Jude Law in Hamlet. In preparation we watched Jude Law on Jimmy Fallon reciting Lady Gaga. That man is even sexy reading poker face.

"I want to ride my bicycle!!!!" - Queen

I have been craving a bicycle for a long time. First I felt like my neighborhood was not very bicycle friendly, now I live in a walk up with no space to store a bike. But when I am running late to class I think about how splendid it would be to be gliding along 9th St on a bicycle.

Bike's have also been popping up all over the place (which I guess isn't too unusual).

Joanna posted about bikes/parisian lifestyle over on Cup of Jo as part of her research for her YSL project. Um, yes I would love to be fabulous faux Parisian on a bike in New York City. Way to read my mind Joanna....

AND I read a spectacular article in the NY Times about Mark Paul Gosselar and his biking ways. So great, another reason to ride a bike, so I can become Zach Morris' friend. Though I have a feeling my biking wouldn't extend much beyond biking around the neighborhood.

'Arry Potter

I have recently become a little obsessed with Tumblrs. I love my blog roll, but sometimes I do not have energy for them. The tumblrs are a wonderful way to enjoy a stream of images. This is one that I grabbed from Tree Castles(though I enjoy their url name "my peter pan complex" a little more) recently. I bet way too much of my harddrive space is taken up by tumblr and ffffound images.

I may be Elaine Benes...

Last night I was watching "The Lip Reader" episode of Seinfeld, and I realized that the hundreds of hours I have spent watching Seinfeld has impacted my personality pretty severely...

1) I think Elaine Benes has made me a violent person.
Have you ever noticed how much Elaine shoves and smacks Jerry, Kramer, and George? Yah, I tend to do that.

2) Seinfeld has defined my ethical viewpoint
For better or for worse Seinfeld has defined what I see as right and wrong. Yes I do think people are the worse and I do think I should be treated like Ted Danson.

Demand Jonas Sees in Color in your City!

I work at an awesome label called Glassnote Records. I have written about our bands before, including Phoenix, The Temper Trap, and Mumford & Sons. One of our newest bands is Jonas Sees in Color. They absolutely blew me away when I saw them live. And to add to that they are just a great group of people.

Right now they are having a contest where YOU get to decide where they go on their first tour. You can demand them to play in your city through their eventful profile, and they will come play in the top ten requested cities. VOTE NOW!

When Harry Met Sally

The previous post is pretty much the premise of one of my favorite movie of all time, "When Harry Met Sally". To hear Harry's point of view on the subject matter check out the video above.

Just friends? Sure.....

Wow, this image is too true. I am trying to think of a straight friend, who I was actually friends with, who I never had a crush on even for a smidge of time. I am finding this list to be really short/non-existent.

What about you guys? Have you ever just been friends with another boy or girl?

MUST WATCH NOW

I saw this video posted on my good friend's Jonas Sees in Color wall, and was really hoping it would be the band in the video. I was mildly disappoint that it wasn't them, but that disappointment quickly went away because this video is so fantastic.

If you have heard of Jonas Sees In Color, who should check them out right after you watch the video above. Their album just came out this September, their music is the bomb and they as people are just hillarious.

Success!

I hope you all had a scary halloween. Mitch and I going out as Taylor and Brad was a complete success. (See photos above)

We went to the Vice party in Brooklyn which had 1994 theme. There were Kurt Cobains and Coutney Loves abound. One of my favorite costumes was Andre Agassi with a full head of hair circa '94.

The party was great (open bar!), which probably lead to our decision to have Mitch/Brad crowd surf, and then him being dropped and getting a hefty gash on his head. Don't worry he is fine, it actually served as quite the punctuation to AN AMAZING HALLOWEEN.

Love you Brad!

Go Ducks! (and Yankees)

Last night my brother was watching the World Series and I received an e-mail with this picture of the TV. GO DUCKS!

For those of you who don't know what I referencing, it would be the man wearing the green hat with the yellow O, which represents the O of University of Oregon. As my brother said, "The fever is rampant."

Ol' Hallows Eve!

Tomorrow is Halloween, and I am very excited. I mentioned earlier this week what I am doing, but I did not tell you what I am going as. WELL...Mitch and I are going as Rachel Zoe's assistants Taylor and Brad. I am really excited to act like I hate everything tomorrow night. I got a great/disgusting blonde wig, and am ready to get my Taylor on, and Mitch is the perfect Brad.

We got our glasses for our costumes from when we saw Toy Story Double Feature in 3D. That was a pretty spectacular night. We saw the 10 o'clock show on a Saturday Night, so it was us and about 10 other really cool people. I forgot what an amazing movie Toy Story is, I DIE.

Goldfish

Annie and I finally got goldfish for our apartment. Their names are Jordan Catalano, Brian Krakow, and Angela Chase. I really hope you know what I am referencing, if not please go watch every episode of My So Called Life right now. The first couple of days in their new home Brian and Angela had quite a love affair, I caught them kissing multiple times, and swimming around the tank holding fins. Jordan was a jealous one always trying to break them up. Then one morning I walked out into the kitchen to find Angela floating at that bottom of the bowl. It was heartbreaking, but I think it has done wonders for Brian's and Jordan's friendship. Bros before hos, bros before hos.

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

Monday I wished that I could go to a halloween party like the one from "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown." And just my luck it was on ABC last night AND tonight. Nothing can put you in a good mood like the peanuts gang.

I believe in you, Great Pumpkin.

Musicians are attractive

Yesterday one of things on the list that made Matthew Gubler hot was that he is artsy. I have been noticing lately this is a qualifying factor to make a lot of people hot. For example I saw The Henry Clay People the other night, and they were delightful, and I thought the band was rather attractive, but when I took away the instruments, I realized they were actually quite average Joes. Musical talent just makes guys hot.

I got to see the band Mumford & Sons multiple times during CMJ, and let me tell you they are cute with or without the instruments. I am so sad they aren't in town anymore, but I can put their CD on repeat and pretend that they are. Seriously, these guys are AMAZING. Check them out nowwwwwww.

You like my totes?

Special "The Temper Trap" tote

Faces Tote

Sexy Beard Tote

Glasses Tote

Yo Yo Ma Tote

The Glassnote Pop-Up Store was last week, and I set up a little booth selling my cards from K is for Katie which has been on sabbatical for quite some time. I also silk screened some tote bags, that, if I do say so myself, were quite the hit. The bags are all pictured above.

You want one? Cool! They are $8 dollars (including S&H), send me an e-mail and I will get one out to you ASAP. katierichanbach@mac.com

Coming soon: Your 'stache is so sexy tote. You can thank Marcus (and his sexy 'stache) from Mumford & Sons for that. (More on them soon)

Gublerland

I have recently acquired a celebrity crush on Matthew Gubler. I had just seen him here and there (He was Tom's friend in 500 Days of Summer), and thought I might be the only one with this crush. Then I saw this amazing tumblr post that talked about "all the ways he's hot". I agree with all of the reasons this tumblrer listed.

"Why He’s Hot:

He’s tall - 6’1”. Clambering up that lanky frame of his like a tree sounds like one hell of a worthwhile activity.
He’s effortlessly sexy. He makes just walking down the streettalking on his cell phone look like the hottest activity on Earth.Hey Matthew. Can I lean against that thing with you? Maybe take you back to my place? I have lots of things you can lean against there. Naked. Like shower doors. And bedroom walls. And me.
He plays the smartest character on television - Dr. Spencer Reidfrom Criminal Minds and you want nothing more than to pick his brain, help distract him from that horribly stressful occupation, and ease that social anxiety.
Ohmygod The Scruff. And paired with that perpetually disheveled hair and slight bit of neck beard? Umph.
He’s the total package. He’s artistic, he’s funny, he’s thatslightly awkward adorable and he’s so attractive he’s agoddamn model. That much perfection in one package? It can only extend to what’s in his pants. I mean, why would it stop there? It wouldn’t."

Halloween Party

Halloween is approaching quickly, and I finally have plans with my lovely fake boyfriend Mitch. We are going to a party in Williamsburg and I hope it looks like the one above. But the party has a 1994 theme, so I am assuming it will not.

Hanky Panky

I have always loved handkerchiefs. I think it has something to do with my love of nostalgia, something I may have gotten from watching Nick at Nite when I was little. I actually collected hankies as kid. I love these hand embroidered hankies by Shabd Simon-Alexander. They are great little snapshots, and beautifully done.

My Hair

I love Zooey Deschanel, that is no secret. I love her hair in this picture. I often pin my hair up when I do not have time to deal with it's emotions. I wish my hair looked like this when it was pinned up.

Bryant Park

On Tuesday we had a beautiful day here in New York. I was around Bryant Park for work, and realized I had forgotten how wonderful it is! There is a borrowing library, ping pong tables, and petanque! And of course the beautiful architecture of the Library. It was the perfect day to be in the park because it the weather was just right where it was pleasant to be out but the park wasn't overloaded. I love (re)discovering things about this city!

*First Picture is a view of the park, the second is of people playing petanque.

Inspiration (Don't laugh at that word Annie)

I found this simply wonderful photograph of this print. I love the size, I love the colors, I love the blockiness of the illustration. I think this will serve as inspiration for me as I delve further into silkscreen.

Projection Art

Puma Lift. from CCW - Lab on Vimeo.

I was working on a paper for my Radical Sixities class, and I used this video to explain my idea for utilize engineering in art. I know this does not seem like it would relate to the Radical Sixties, but trust me it does for my paper. I am fascinated by this video.

I heart Joanna!

Joanna has started posting her wedding photos over on A Cup of Jo. They are so adorable, I cannot wait to see more!!

New York Weather Report

This morning I was getting ready for school and my roommate, Annie, was watching The Today show. There was a musician performing out in the plaza, and he was all bundled up. I turned to Annie and asked if she thought I should wear something warmer, I love that I can use the Today show to figure out what I should wear.

I love you New York.

LIFE

I cannot believe I haven't posted about this yet. EVERY ISSUE OF LIFE MAGAZINE IS NOW ON GOOGLE BOOKS. That's right. You can digitally flip through every page of every issue of Life. I am in heaven. LOVES IT.

I found out about this on HELLO BAULDOFF (who I grabbed the montage above from) who said:
"What might Don Draper think of some of these?"

In response my brother said:
"Shit that's cool. I too would love to know what Don Draper would think. But that's true of almost any situation."

Oh Life magazine, and Don Draper.

Sesame Street + Mad Men

Sesame Street does a Mad Men episode. I would write more, but I think nymag says it best:

"When the creators of Sesame Street announced in early August that they'd be putting together a Mad Men–centric episode, our minds immediately began spinning with potential plot twists for our favorite characters. For example, what if Cookie Monster revealed that he stole his identity from a cookie-loving dead guy during the Korean War? Somewhat sadly (yet as expected), the finished product concerns itself more with being wholesome and educational than it does with showing Muppets finger-banging each other. In this instance, a few generic Muppets, one of whom goes by the name of Dick Whitman Don Draper, sit around an office pitching ideas for a new Happy Honey Bear ad campaign. Per the formula established by Matthew Weiner, the junior ad men discover that the Draper figure is difficult to please; at one point, Draper even calls his subordinates "sycophants." Still, we'll admit to being to being slightly disappointed that we didn't get to see a scene that opens on a Muppet Duck seducing Muppet Peggy with a pack of condoms nearby, mainly because we've always harbored a secret desire to call him Rubber Duckie."

My Prince

I found this picture through a series of links I am sure, and there is something about it I love. It is a little "Where The Wild Things Are" which I am kind of obsessed with. That trailer makes me so happy every time I see it.

Recently I have become rather prone to bug bites, and not only that I seem to have huge reactions to them. I am currently suffering from two bug bites on my foot that have turned the majority of my foot red. Ahhhh they itch!!!!!!!!

The print about is from the ever wonderful Jason Polan. He is the guy who is trying to draw every person in new york, and he even drew me art the Publication Fair last year! You can get this print on 20x200.

Woo-ee-oo

The other night I went to dinner with my delightful roommate the one, the only, Annie Fisher. We went Phebes on 4th st, and they had what I would consider one of the best music selections I have heard in a long time. They played so many greats from my Middle School days including Survivor by Destiny's Child, Lady Marmalade, and Buddy Holly by Weezer. Oh do I love Weezer, I also love old school Nick at Nite TV (before they turned into the George Lopez channel). Which makes the Buddy Holly video a favorite of mine.

Damn Youtube won't let me imbed this video so click to watch.

WIKI WIKI!

I adore Wikipedia. It is the best place to start your research. Yah yah yah, it isn't reliable, anyone can edit it. But if you read the articles it gives you a good summary of what the topic is, and then their resource list gives you a great place to start for finding your "official" resources.

Again, I adore Wikipedia.

This is what the featured articles would look like printed out. Who wants to kill that many trees? No way, I choose Wikipedia.

Click here to find out more about the sheer mass that is Wikipedia.
