Go Ducks! (and Yankees)

Last night my brother was watching the World Series and I received an e-mail with this picture of the TV. GO DUCKS!

For those of you who don't know what I referencing, it would be the man wearing the green hat with the yellow O, which represents the O of University of Oregon. As my brother said, "The fever is rampant."

Ol' Hallows Eve!

Tomorrow is Halloween, and I am very excited. I mentioned earlier this week what I am doing, but I did not tell you what I am going as. WELL...Mitch and I are going as Rachel Zoe's assistants Taylor and Brad. I am really excited to act like I hate everything tomorrow night. I got a great/disgusting blonde wig, and am ready to get my Taylor on, and Mitch is the perfect Brad.

We got our glasses for our costumes from when we saw Toy Story Double Feature in 3D. That was a pretty spectacular night. We saw the 10 o'clock show on a Saturday Night, so it was us and about 10 other really cool people. I forgot what an amazing movie Toy Story is, I DIE.

Goldfish

Annie and I finally got goldfish for our apartment. Their names are Jordan Catalano, Brian Krakow, and Angela Chase. I really hope you know what I am referencing, if not please go watch every episode of My So Called Life right now. The first couple of days in their new home Brian and Angela had quite a love affair, I caught them kissing multiple times, and swimming around the tank holding fins. Jordan was a jealous one always trying to break them up. Then one morning I walked out into the kitchen to find Angela floating at that bottom of the bowl. It was heartbreaking, but I think it has done wonders for Brian's and Jordan's friendship. Bros before hos, bros before hos.

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

Monday I wished that I could go to a halloween party like the one from "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown." And just my luck it was on ABC last night AND tonight. Nothing can put you in a good mood like the peanuts gang.

I believe in you, Great Pumpkin.

Musicians are attractive

Yesterday one of things on the list that made Matthew Gubler hot was that he is artsy. I have been noticing lately this is a qualifying factor to make a lot of people hot. For example I saw The Henry Clay People the other night, and they were delightful, and I thought the band was rather attractive, but when I took away the instruments, I realized they were actually quite average Joes. Musical talent just makes guys hot.

I got to see the band Mumford & Sons multiple times during CMJ, and let me tell you they are cute with or without the instruments. I am so sad they aren't in town anymore, but I can put their CD on repeat and pretend that they are. Seriously, these guys are AMAZING. Check them out nowwwwwww.

Gublerland

I have recently acquired a celebrity crush on Matthew Gubler. I had just seen him here and there (He was Tom's friend in 500 Days of Summer), and thought I might be the only one with this crush. Then I saw this amazing tumblr post that talked about "all the ways he's hot". I agree with all of the reasons this tumblrer listed.

"Why He’s Hot:

He’s tall - 6’1”. Clambering up that lanky frame of his like a tree sounds like one hell of a worthwhile activity.
He’s effortlessly sexy. He makes just walking down the streettalking on his cell phone look like the hottest activity on Earth.Hey Matthew. Can I lean against that thing with you? Maybe take you back to my place? I have lots of things you can lean against there. Naked. Like shower doors. And bedroom walls. And me.
He plays the smartest character on television - Dr. Spencer Reidfrom Criminal Minds and you want nothing more than to pick his brain, help distract him from that horribly stressful occupation, and ease that social anxiety.
Ohmygod The Scruff. And paired with that perpetually disheveled hair and slight bit of neck beard? Umph.
He’s the total package. He’s artistic, he’s funny, he’s thatslightly awkward adorable and he’s so attractive he’s agoddamn model. That much perfection in one package? It can only extend to what’s in his pants. I mean, why would it stop there? It wouldn’t."

Halloween Party

Halloween is approaching quickly, and I finally have plans with my lovely fake boyfriend Mitch. We are going to a party in Williamsburg and I hope it looks like the one above. But the party has a 1994 theme, so I am assuming it will not.

Hanky Panky

I have always loved handkerchiefs. I think it has something to do with my love of nostalgia, something I may have gotten from watching Nick at Nite when I was little. I actually collected hankies as kid. I love these hand embroidered hankies by Shabd Simon-Alexander. They are great little snapshots, and beautifully done.

My Hair

I love Zooey Deschanel, that is no secret. I love her hair in this picture. I often pin my hair up when I do not have time to deal with it's emotions. I wish my hair looked like this when it was pinned up.

Bryant Park

On Tuesday we had a beautiful day here in New York. I was around Bryant Park for work, and realized I had forgotten how wonderful it is! There is a borrowing library, ping pong tables, and petanque! And of course the beautiful architecture of the Library. It was the perfect day to be in the park because it the weather was just right where it was pleasant to be out but the park wasn't overloaded. I love (re)discovering things about this city!

*First Picture is a view of the park, the second is of people playing petanque.

Inspiration (Don't laugh at that word Annie)

I found this simply wonderful photograph of this print. I love the size, I love the colors, I love the blockiness of the illustration. I think this will serve as inspiration for me as I delve further into silkscreen.

Projection Art

Puma Lift. from CCW - Lab on Vimeo.

I was working on a paper for my Radical Sixities class, and I used this video to explain my idea for utilize engineering in art. I know this does not seem like it would relate to the Radical Sixties, but trust me it does for my paper. I am fascinated by this video.

I heart Joanna!

Joanna has started posting her wedding photos over on A Cup of Jo. They are so adorable, I cannot wait to see more!!

New York Weather Report

This morning I was getting ready for school and my roommate, Annie, was watching The Today show. There was a musician performing out in the plaza, and he was all bundled up. I turned to Annie and asked if she thought I should wear something warmer, I love that I can use the Today show to figure out what I should wear.

I love you New York.

LIFE

I cannot believe I haven't posted about this yet. EVERY ISSUE OF LIFE MAGAZINE IS NOW ON GOOGLE BOOKS. That's right. You can digitally flip through every page of every issue of Life. I am in heaven. LOVES IT.

I found out about this on HELLO BAULDOFF (who I grabbed the montage above from) who said:
"What might Don Draper think of some of these?"

In response my brother said:
"Shit that's cool. I too would love to know what Don Draper would think. But that's true of almost any situation."

Oh Life magazine, and Don Draper.

Sesame Street + Mad Men

Sesame Street does a Mad Men episode. I would write more, but I think nymag says it best:

"When the creators of Sesame Street announced in early August that they'd be putting together a Mad Men–centric episode, our minds immediately began spinning with potential plot twists for our favorite characters. For example, what if Cookie Monster revealed that he stole his identity from a cookie-loving dead guy during the Korean War? Somewhat sadly (yet as expected), the finished product concerns itself more with being wholesome and educational than it does with showing Muppets finger-banging each other. In this instance, a few generic Muppets, one of whom goes by the name of Dick Whitman Don Draper, sit around an office pitching ideas for a new Happy Honey Bear ad campaign. Per the formula established by Matthew Weiner, the junior ad men discover that the Draper figure is difficult to please; at one point, Draper even calls his subordinates "sycophants." Still, we'll admit to being to being slightly disappointed that we didn't get to see a scene that opens on a Muppet Duck seducing Muppet Peggy with a pack of condoms nearby, mainly because we've always harbored a secret desire to call him Rubber Duckie."
