Strange Maps

One of my best friends loves maps. He is kind of a nerd about them, but that is one of the things that makes him great. So when on Even Cleveland I saw posts about maps I was intrigued, and even more so when I saw a link to an amazing blog called Strange Maps. It is exactly as the title says, a blog of strange maps. The above is an image from the blog.

Somersault

My dear friend Annie has recently start a new blog. She started March 17, and already has 32 posts, and each one is spectacular. Annie has great taste and a keen eye, and her blog is simply a treat. I recommend you go check it out now, you will not regret it.

Peonies

Peonies have been one of my favorite flowers for a long time. It is peonies in the spring, and ranunculus in the fall. Last week on Smitten I read this:

My friend Abbey is a believer in feng shui, the ancient Chinese art of arranging design elements in certain ways, in order to create a harmonious environment. So, here's an awesome tip for attracting love...

Amazingly, feng shui experts say that hanging a painting of peonies or putting fresh peonies in your house will help bring romantic love into your life. When Abbey graduated from college, her mom got her a lamp with peonies on it. Soon, Abbey met an amazing man, fell madly in love and got hitched. So who knows? It just might work!

Well since I love peonies anyways, I decided to give it ago. Right now my background on my iphone is the above image from the lovely my polaroid blog. I wonder if that qualifies for the Feng Shui rules?

Iconic Glamour

To celebrate their 70th birthday, Glamour is taking a look back and celebrating some fabulous female american icons. They have recreated all of these gals with help from some modern celebs. I love them. Above is Alexis Bledel as Rosie the Riveter, and Emma Roberts as Audrey Hepburn. Clearly they took a cue from Joanna and Alex with the pink balloons!

You can view the rest of these lovely portraits on Glamour's website. (seen at Glamour via Miss Jane)

Yay!Everyday!

The other day I was doing my usaual ffffound rounds, and came across this great concept for a poster for The Dark Knight. So I clicked  and found that this poster came from a website called yay!everyday. From what I can tell, it is a multi user (design-based) blog, where you can sign up and post whatever you want. It has a really great variety, and is fun to scroll through.

Blitzen Trapper

I work at a record label and so when I have down time at work I like to surf blogs (okay well I do that always) but at work I like to surf blogs to look for cool new musicians, music videos, and album covers. Well Monday at work I was on Black Eiffel and saw this amazing video for the band Blitzen Trapper. (Teen girl style)UH-MAZING. And they are from good ol' Oregon. So I decided be impulsive and buy their Album (for some reason I procrastinate on buying music when I find someone new that I like). Very delightful, I have been listening to it on my commute every day since.

Relationship Slang

I just came across this e-mail I sent me brother about an old A Cup of Jo post all about relationship slang. I thought it was perfect for him, because for those of you who don't know he is the writer/director of Stealing Second.

KRISATOMIC

Found a new blog last night that I am now obsessed with. I think it is because I harbor this secret (well I guess not anymore) wish to be an illustrator. I am not a great drawer, but if I could draw I would want it to be in an illustration style. And I loooooove Krisatomic's blog now.

(As you can now see I have quite a few obsessions)
