Baby Mark

My dad has been scanning in old family pictures lately, and here is one of him as a little kid. I am itching to do a project with these amazing old family pictures. I am thinking about doing some type of overlay, hmmm, who knows.

I think I am kind of inspired by my previous post.

Yay!

I just checked two major things off my multi-page to do list, so it is time to smile and take a look at something pretty. So here is a pretty image courtesy off ffffound to look at.

Oh Beards

I am currently working on a calendar that uses beard imagery for each day of the month, so when I found this Beard Typography on Munster-Munch I found it rather amusing. I hope you do too.

Lazy Hazy Days of Summer

We are all longing for summer to be here, both for school to be over, and for the the weather to change. This was a picture I took last summer when I was walking through Washington Square Park, I believe that day there was a circus going on, as well as a duo of an upright and piano and drum kit playing. It was a pretty spectacular day, too bad I won't be able to hang out in the park this summer due to the re-design but I still can't wait for the sunny days to be here again.

Terrifying

I saw this one flipping through the new Bergdorf's catalog and found it absolutely terrifying, so of course I thought I would share.

Ryan Adams

I found this Ryan Adams concert poster by Erick Montes on Posters and Toys again. I was digging it because the illustrations reminded my of Miroslav Sasek who illustrated the This Is books I posted on a while back.

Oh Gnomes

If you know me pretty well you probably also know that I find gnomes pretty amusing. I am not really sure how it started. I think it was a gift from my friend Amanda, the gift was a singing gnome named Winston. You record something, then he sings it back to you in a gnome voice, pretty spectacular. Anyways, I started making a word map of Winston, but then, well, stopped. But I really like his hat made out of an A.

Type Nerd

I am truly becoming a type nerd because I found this hilarious and my fashion and fine arts friends just looked at me blankly. Read the whole article here.

Ex Libris

I think Ex Libris' are cool. You don't see them around as much anymore (well at least I don't) and I like tangible paper objects. We had the assignment of making an Ex Libris for Typography and I made quite a few. My final was a paper Russian Doll that slid open to reveal my name, and of course the words ex libris. All of the above are various ex libris' I made for the assignment.

Everyone Loves Marc, and apparently Mrs. Beckham

I know I am little late to be posting on this, but I just saw this ad again and I love it. I of course love Marc Jacobs, and though I never was a big Spice Girls kid, after seeing that Posh coming to America show I find her rather amusing now as well. And I just think this ad is great, it is my favorite out of the whole campaign.

BALLIN'

My good hearted in a bad way friend, Jaime, and I have taken a liking to the word Ballin'. When we have one of our endless conversation the word Ballin' is used countless times describe everything and anything. We will also say things are not Ballin' (That's right I am capitalizing this word, it is just that special) when, well, they aren't Ballin'. So in honor of our new favorite word I made this little poster. This one is for you James!

The Armory Show - Yay Post #50!

My spectacular friend Alan and I went to the Armory Show this weekend and this is one of the pieces that caught our eye (for some reason this is importing sideways, so you are going to have to turn your head, sorry). It is fun to go to the show and see such a huge and widespread collection of modern art. If you are ever in New York the weekend of the show make sure you check it out.

Type Trivia

You learn something new everyday. Today that something new as that Arial is a knock off of the classic Helvetica. Apparently the story goes that Microsoft was too cheap to pay to use Helvetica, so they hired a design firm to design a font that had the same size specifications of Helvetica so that they could be interchangeable, but this way they wouldn't have to pay rights.
Interesting.
