Here birdy birdy birdy

I have loved this bedspread from Urban Outfitters for quite a while now. Yet, I have never seemed to have the right place for it, so I guess I will just have to continue to admire it from afar.

Bedknobs but no broomsticks

I was just on the Anthropologie website, and love the illustrations they have done of their knobs and such. I was actually hoping it was a print they had done, but I still like it.

Eco-Friendly Hunting Trophies

I am thinking about getting this for my brother as a housewarming present. I think they are pretty cool, they also have a moose and a deer in a variety of sizes. Check them all out here.

I love this city

Found on ffffound!

I don't have a title for this

I found this image on ffffound! and it struck me. I hope it strikes you too.

My oh my, the moon

Did you know that the font Futura is so widely used that it is even on the moon? I didn't, until today. Wes Anderson and the Moon, I would be mighty proud if I was futura's mama.

That is, as my friend Julianne put it, if you believe we actually went to the moon.

That Elle

I saw this photo in the February issue of Elle, and, besides everything, something caught my attention in it. I think it might be the reflection in her eye glasses. Not really sure, but there is definitely something there that draws me in.

Vanity Fair

This month's issue is their Hollywood issue, and inside is a set of amazing spreads using modern actors to recreate some of Hitchcock's most famous scenes. Go to your newsstand and check it out.

Vintage

I found this invitation on the NYPL's digital gallery to the illustrator's guild (I believe) holiday meeting from 1958, and I instantly fell in love with it.

Kris Chau

I was brought to Kris Chau's site by my dear friend Annie who you might remember from earlier on. I found these illustrations really entertaining, there are tons more on the site so you should go and check them out on your own!

Stealing Second

The most recent design by yours truly. It is a movie poster for my brother's short "Stealing Second". A film about dating, and being awkward. But when do those two things not coincide?Check out his stuff here.

Sunglasses Girls

I found this image on a help topic page on Etsy. I thought it was cool, it says it is from Art4Friends, but when I clicked on the name it took me nowhere.

Preggers

This is probably the most terrifying barbie I have ever seen, and I have seen many a barbie in my day. Apparently this delightful doll was taken off the shelves of Wal-Mart when it came out because she wasn't wearing a wedding ring.

Come on now, Barbie is our independent woman. She can do anything, be a veterinarian, work at Pizza Hut, or be  a Mail Carrier. She can even have a baby without Ken by her side.

Annie Fisher

I have recently acquired my first piece of original art by a specatcular artist, Annie Fisher. What makes it even better is that Annie is one of my best friends, and this wonderful subway scene includes a portrait of me (the girl in the blue dress).

Annie is spectacular, and I am so excited to be an owner of one of her originals.
Here are some of her other pieces that I adore:

Bergdorfs

If you are in the city and haven't walked by Bergdorfs lately I recommend you do. Their window displays are amazing, they have taken pieces from recent exhibitions, such as one of Richard Prince's nurses that was recently at the Guggenheim and some of Rudolf Stingel's work that was at the Whitney.

Not only are these displays dynamic, they are also great examples of cross-advertising. Bergdorf gets the association with fine art, as well as working off the publics knowledge of current events, and the artist and museums get advertising as well.
Brilliant.

MoMA

Today I was at the MoMA, and came upon some pretty great stuff. On the third floor design gallery there were tons of pieces whose materials made some great patterns. What I was really impressed by was this hanging curtain. Constructed out plastic pieces that snap together like legos, it created an organic shape like a curtain of vines in the jungle. It is great to see design using man-made materials and creating such an organic piece.

Also at the MoMA I found the love of my life. Too bad this picture was taken in 1965, meaning he is probably a little too old for me.
